Worker Co-Ops: What Are They and Why Do We Want Them?

A worker cooperative is a cooperative that is owned and self-managed by its workers. Worker co-ops can provide democratic control of the economy, empowering workers to have a greater say over the decisions that affect their lives. But are they realistic? Can they scale up to large organizations? How can they be implemented?

Join us in an open forum as we discuss the benefits, limitations and possibilities of worker co-ops.

    Panelists to be announced soon!

People's Climate March in Washington, D.C.

DSA has endorsed the People's Climate March happening on April 29th in Washington, D.C.

The Sierra Club is arranging for buses which will leave Detroit from their parking lot at 2727 2nd Ave in Detroit, Friday night at 10:30PM. This will be an overnight bus and we will arrive in DC in the morning.

The cost is $80 per person. Click here to reserve your spot.

Once this bus fills up, the price will rise for the second bus so DO NOT wait.

The parking lot for bus riders in Detroit is gated and has security cameras. Please DO NOT park on the street. The bus will leave at 10:30PM on Friday, returning very early (probably about 2AM) in the morning on Sunday. This will be an overnight bus so bring extra things like blankets you might find helpful. You will be arriving in DC around breakfast so you can grab something local or bring your own snack.

    People's Climate March-Detroit

DSA has endorsed the People's Climate March.

The route for the march has not been finalized. For updates, check out the Facebook event page

Join the Peoples Climate Movement this April 29th in Ferndale, MI to stand up for our communities and climate.

Everything we have struggled to move forward in the United States is in peril. Our loved ones feel under siege, and those in power in Washington are advancing a dark and dangerous vision of America that we know is untrue. To change everything, we need everyone.

On the 100th Day of the Trump Administration, we will be in the streets across America to show the world and our leaders that we will resist attacks on our people, our communities and our planet.

    Why March?

Donald Trump is a threat to the future of our planet, the safety of our communities, and the health of our families.

The new administration has attacked the hard-won protections of our climate, health, and communities, and the rights of people of color, workers, indigenous people, immigrants, women, LGBTQIA, young people, and more.
