We will demonstrate at 9:30 am as people arrive for the 9th District Democratic Party meeting. We'll protest Trump's $54 billion in proposed Pentagon increases. We'll also protest the $54 billion in proposed cuts to everything else -- whether it's Meals on Wheels, Low Income Home Energy Assistance, Diplomacy, National Institutes for Health research grants, the EPA, Big Bird, etc. -- cuts which were necessitated by Trump's Pentagon increases.
Why protest in front of the 9th District Dems meeting? Because while Sander Levin, Gary Peters, and Debbie Stabenow have spoken up about some of the proposed cuts to the domestic budget, they've been virtually silent on Trump's proposed increases for the Pentagon (see their press statements below). This silence is a pattern over a number of years. Their silence enables outrageous budgets like the one Trump has proposed -- a budget totally out-of-sync with what the American people want and a budget many would consider an affront to their values.
At 10:05 we'll go inside to hear Rep. Sandy Levin who usually talks 10 - 20 minutes about what's on the top of his mind. If his talk doesn't include our concerns about the budget, we'll bring that up.
