Bring Back the Tracks, Double DDOT, and Beyond
Fighting for Detroit’s Transit Future

Bring Back the Tracks is a Metro Detroit DSA campaign that acts as the first stage of a multi organizational, three stage plan to transform our city's transit systems. We’re organizing to push Detroit toward a future with an integrated rail system, a fully funded bus network, and accessible, high-quality public transit for everyone in Detroit and Metro Detroit.

Right now, we have a chance to make real change. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is set to redevelop Michigan Avenue—a vital artery of Detroit’s historic streetcar system. But instead of rebuilding for the future, they’re planning to rip up the old tracks without a plan to bring them back. We're demanding better. We want streetcar tracks restored, optimized for an eventual city-wide rail system, and a commitment to public transit that connects us all.

This is where you come in.
Your voice can help shape Detroit’s future. Join us in calling on MDOT to bring back the tracks and invest in transit that serves working-class Detroiters.
